Street Improvements

Provided planning and design services for reconstruction of approximately 6,800 lineal feet of North Main Street in the Central Business District (between Seminary Avenue and Cole Avenue). Existing conditions involved four-lane roadway with substandard lane widths and five signalized intersections without left turn lanes. Revised scheme involves three-lane roadway, interconnection of intersection traffic signals, new street lighting, and a tree protection plan. Provided Resident Engineering services during construction.

Kudrna & Associates, Ltd, provided the design of engineering improvements for storm sewer replacements and enhanced resurfacing (i.e., complete replacement of existing curb and gutter and new driveway approaches) of 1.3 miles of streets in the Forest/High Area of the Fairview Basin. All existing sewers will be reviewed and necessary repairs and improvements will be included in the work. Limited water main work will also be included in the project.

Topographic surveying including base map preparation, and Phase II design for landscaped medians on North Cumberland Avenue from Addison Street to Lawrence Avenue (approx. 1.5 miles), from Bryn Mawr Avenue to Eastbound Entrance of the Kennedy Expressway (approx. 0.25 miles), and the southwest corner of North Cumberland Avenue at the I-90 Expressway Ramp/CTA Station Entrance.

Kudrna & Associates, Ltd., provided preliminary engineering study, preliminary and final design, survey, construction documents, estimates, specifications, permitting, bidding, and resident engineering. Performed topographic and ROW surveys and designed total street reconstruction including sewers and water mains. The Scope of Services for this project includes design of engineering improvements for roadway reconstruction and replacement of sanitary sewers and water mains in the Hillside (West Village Limits to Glenwood) project area:

Preliminary engineering study, preliminary and final design, topographic survey, construction documents, estimates, specifications, permitting and bidding for reconstruction and rehabilitation of 4,000 feet of roadway in Glen Ellyn. The widening and reconstruction of 2,100 feet of Prospect Avenue from Duane Street to Turner Avenue included replacement of the storm sewer, sanitary sewer and watermain including all service connections. The reconstruction of Hillside Avenue form Prospect Avenue to Glenwood Avenue and enhanced resurfacing along Glenwood Avenue from Hillside Avenue to Turner Avenue are also included in the project.

Benton Place Streetscape – Kudrna provided design plans and construction observation for the safety and aesthetic improvements of Benton Place at the Chicago Theater. The design plans included stamped asphalt and colored concrete with custom lighted bollards while also focusing on drainage and ADA compliance issues. Muller & Muller, Inc. is providing architectural services, and Terry Guen Design Associates, Ltd is providing Landscape Design.
