Kudrna & Associates prepared design plans and specifications and provided resident engineering for the expansion of Midwest Road from the East-West Tollway (Baybrook Lane in Oak Brook) to 39th Street in Westmont. Improvements consisted of roadway expansion from two lanes to four lanes - widening of existing pavement south of 35th Street and full reconstruction north of 35th Street (approximately 2 miles in length). The project also included: new storm sewers and drainage structures; stormwater detention; a multi-celled box culvert; a 373 foot retaining wall (< 20 ft in height); and a parallel bicycle/pedestrian trail with connections to the Oak Brook bicycle trail system. Detention calculations were made per the DuPage County Stormwater and Flood Plain Ordinance. Modifications were made to a subdivision lake to provide on-site detention. Plans were developed in accordance with FEQ Model for Ginger Creek. Signalization improvements and interconnections were made to four intersections.

Phase I and Phase II engineering services. Phase I included preparation of a Preliminary Engineering Report (a Categorical Exclusion) for resurfacing, installation of curb and gutter and storm sewer extending 0.65miles from Illinois 47 to east of Maple Street in Saunemin. Phase II included preliminary and final contract plans, special provisions and estimates. The proposed improvements for IL Route 116 consist of widening the existing pavement to 30’ face-to-face of proposed curb and gutter. Drainage will be improved by construction of combination concrete curb and gutter and an enclosed storm sewer system to replace the existing shoulders and roadside ditches. The intersection at IL 116 and IL 47 will be upgraded to accommodate a WB-65 vehicle. The intersection of IL 116 and Plum Street will be upgraded to accommodate a WB-50 vehicle.

75th Street Improvements

Kudrna & Associates prepared plans and specifications for roadway and drainage improvements. Involved expanding existing two lane rural configuration to four lane urban section including intersection improvements at Illinois Route 59 and 34 in western DuPage County. Also designed on-site detention.


81st Street Roadway Improvements

Village of Justice, Illinois

Kudrna & Associates was selected to provide civil engineering services for the design of roadway improvements along 81st Street from 88th Avenue to Fawn Trail in Justice, IL. Tasks included data collection involving review of the Stormwater Master Plan, coordination with utility companies and the County. Topographic survey will be completed for the area of improvement totaling approximately 2,200 feet.
