DuPage National Technology Park Resident Engineering Services

DuPage National Technology Park is an 800-acre, high technology, research and business park located in West Chicago, DuPage County. Carved entirely out of undeveloped land, the site required extensive grading, installation of roads, water and sewer lines, drainage and detention systems, and all utilities, including high-tech fiber optic systems. Currently 446 acres are under development which involves: 2,265,000 cubic yards mass grading; 3.2 miles roadway completed; 0.9 mile roadway currently under construction; 14,125 LF storm sewer installed; 9,040 LF storm sewer installation underway; 18,320 LF sanitary sewer installed; and 26,260 LF watermain installed. K&A has served as Construction Manager/Resident Engineer/Construction Engineer for site development since 2004.
Chicago Department of Transportation, Arterial Streets Resurfacing

Kudrna & Associates provided Construction Engineers for an Arterial Street Resurfacing Program involving 12.27 miles of urban streets in 2002, 14.4 miles in 2003, and 15.5 miles in 2004. Kudrna furnished a construction engineering team consisting of a Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, Inspector, and Records Keeper for Construction Coordination, Inspection, and Documentation. The projects involved: pavement scarification, removal and replacement of concrete sidewalk, removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter, pavement reconstruction and/or patching, placement of pavement markings, installation of storm sewer and catch basins, adjustments to utility structures, placement of bituminous binder and surface courses, and installation of topsoil and trees.
Chicago Department of Transportation, Reconstruction of 75th Street Viaduct over I-90/94
Chicago, Illinois
Kudrna & Associates, Ltd., provided phase III construction engineering services for the reconstruction of 75th Street Viaduct.
The project consisted of:
- Complete removal and replacement of existing bridge deck and pre-cast pre-stressed concrete girders and replacement with new steel girders and reinforced concrete deck.
- Removal and replacement of all expansion and rocker bearings.
- Resurfacing and intersection reconstruction at LaFayette Avenue and State Street.
- Coordination with adjacent property owners and Chicago Transit Authority.
- Rebuild center piers and construct two new piers and two open abutments on steel h-piles.
- Replacement of street lighting within limits of improvements including conduits containing asbestos.
- Resurfacing and intersection reconstruction at LaFayatte Avenue and State Street.
- Drainage improvements.
- coordination with adjacent property owners and Chicago Transit Authority.
- Coordination with IDOT Traffic, Surveillance and Design.
- Compressed schedule with only 120 days of roadway closure.
